First off, way to go with the video presentation. It’s nice with a five-minute video to see who is talking to you. I didn’t take that approach and wondered if I should have.
I thought you did a great job walking through the steps of how your paper came together. Starting off things personalizing why you chose the movie Dope was a nice touch. Knowing you cared about the subject made me want to listen.
I think the strongest points of your digital presentation came in the methodology, survey and literature review sections. You were very thorough and explained your approach, giving details into the questions and parameters of your survey. The methodology and lit review were also similarly backed up with strong details.
Another part I liked is while you did have detailed information for those parts, you didn’t dwell on them too long, keeping the presentation moving. You provided a good overview of the project without reciting the whole thing. It can be challenging to be concise for something like this, considering all the information that went into these projects. Your video presentation did that.
Thoughts on improvement would be explaining a little bit about Dope with an overview. I haven’t seen the movie and it would have helped to know a little of the story/plot line. It can be a good approach when presenting a movie/art review to a general audience to assume many viewers/readers have not seen the work you’re referencing.
On the same idea, it may have been nice to give a brief overview of what “equipment for living” is. Again, with the idea that people in your audience may not by familiar with the term.
Overall, I enjoyed your presentation. You hit the main points and didn’t go too long. That’s a key in a visual presentation.
Hi Tierra,
It was pleasure to watch your vlog.
Your thesis was clear and concise, and I thought the movie Dope was a great choice of topics because the subject matter is very relevant and everyone can relate to needing motivation to set goals at some point in their life.
You vlog was easy to understand and follow. The way you took your time to speak and take us step by step of the process you took to write your paper was very well done. You were very detailed.
I understood that the movie Dope provides equipment for living up to our full potential in life. Although, I haven’t seen the video, I am now interested in viewing it because of your presentation.
It would have been nice to hear more about the characters in the video, so I can see just what they overcame. Examples usually paint a clearer picture in viewers minds.
Overall, you vlog was very well thought out and presented, and I learned from you. I have more knowledge on how to present my next vlog.
So I now have Dope on my list of movies to watch over the holiday season. It was actually nice to see you and hear you speak during your presentation. I felt your connection and love for movies during your presentation. I loved your discussion slide and the elaboration between movies and what type of ‘Equipment for Living’ they could possibly provide. Movies can bridge a gap between two social groups with diverse backgrounds that can spark a dialogue between the two. I too have watched a movie and made an internal personal connection to either a character with similarities or a situation with a familiar outcome. I never viewed movies as ‘Equipment for Living’ until this class. That was awesome.
Overall, I think your presentation is fantastic. It’s so professional and, I think that you summarized your points really well. I might need to ask you for a few pointers in the next class. There are a couple of things I wish you did a bit better.
The first thing, I think you chose a great topic. I’m familiar with the movie and I completely agree with your stance on it, but I do wish you gave a brief synopsis about the film’s plot for those who aren’t as familiar. This would’ve only enhanced your viewpoint.
Second, I wish you talked a bit more about the characters. From what I remember the movie is really character driven. I feel like some examples about the characters and how they provide “equipment for living” in our real lives could’ve worked itself neatly into the focus of your presentation. However, I consider these just small nitpicks. I really enjoyed your presentation. Like I said it’s incredibly well done and you explained your points very well.
